In a quiet English countryside town, Bookshop owner Branwen Davies finds herself at the center of every high-profile situation. The sighting of a legendary ghost and her attempt to disprove it draws her into the middle of a murder investigation.

Believing the police are on the wrong track, she sets out to probe the situation herself. Branwen’s sleuthing and her involvement with an environmental group puts her under suspicion with the police detective in charge of the case, and under attack by a local land developer.

In addition to the problem of being a murder suspect, Branwen is worried about being forced out of the proverbial broom closet because she’s a witch.

Protest demonstrations, ancient artifacts and a rekindled romance with a police inspector figure into the unfolding of unusual events.
