About the Book

Civilization could not have developed without trees. After humans first attached sharpened stones to the ends of sticks to extend their reach as hunters, and kindled fires for warmth and cooking, there was no going back. People eventually began to view trees as something more than a source of food, shelter and raw material. Perhaps it was the symbiotic connection that allowed people to sense the spark of life that we hold in common. Trees became part of human spiritual and cultural traditions as well as one of the most powerful symbols that embodies life and cyclical time. But at some point, we lost our way through the woods and forgot that we, too, belong in the natural world.

Modern society moves so fast that events and our lives can become a blur. We must ask ourselves if this is how we want to exist? If we are to find meaning in our lives, then we have to make time to slow down, to open both our flow of energy and soul to the pulse of life in order to find where we truly live. However, we are starting to come full circle. There has been a sea change and people’s spirituality is transforming. We could say that the Goddess has returned to her place in our hearts, but perhaps it is more accurate to say she never left. We simply closed our hearts and minds to her call and couldn’t hear the whispers from the woods.
